Robotics Has Arrived at Pharmpur

Together with the company Goldfuss Automation, a tailor-made logistics system for ready-to-fill containers was developed for the C-B-A-B-C cleanroom cascade using Stäubli robots. The special features of the system are:

• Minimal footprint
• Processing of tubs for syringes (1 to 20 ml) and vials (also in 96-unit trays)
• Controlled storage before and after filling
• Optio­nally also conti­nuous removal from storage
• Supply of 2 separate filling rooms

An integral part of the system is a UV decon­ta­mi­nation tunnel consisting of 3 modules and the opening module for tubs. The effec­ti­veness of the decon­ta­mi­nation was demons­trated by dose measu­re­ments and the use of bioin­di­cators. It is worth highlighting that, in addition to the logistics tasks, the robots are also used for auxiliary processes. For example, the opening robot takes over the repla­cement of settle plates, and the robot in the logistics centre handles cleaning tasks.

The system was presented in autumn 2025 at the ISPE Confe­rence in Odense (Denmark), where the “Robotics Appli­cation of the Year Award” was presented, and it attracted keen interest there.
